On September 13 2023 a team of us will be attempting to hike the three highest mountain in Scotland, England and Wales in the space of 24 hours to raise money for Safe Space Movement; a registered charity that exists soley to support people experiencing all aspects of mental health.
Founded by renowned rave pioneer Billy Daniel Bunter, the organisation is an inspiring movement of passionate professionals from a huge variety of sectors, all connected through Daniel’s radio shows, events and social media network purely through a love of rave culture and an urge to spread positivity, love and mutual respect for each other.
Since its inception during lockdown, Safe Space Movement will step up in a major way on June 26 as they launch their phonelines to provide direct support for those who need it most. It’s a huge development for the charity and will be funded, in part, through the 3 Peaks Challenge.
No mean feat: I’ve done the 3 Peaks Challenge before. It is an incredibly tough but very rewarding experience that cannot be taken lightly even for those who regularly exercise and have good physical health.
Living right in the the tick of some of South Wales’ most beautiful mountains (and regularly rambling up and down them for my own personal mental health support), I’ve taken it upon myself to not just join Daniel and help raise funds, but also help him and his wife Sonya train and prepare for the epic 24 hour mission.
Our journey started on May 26, just hours after Billy Daniel Bunter headlined the 1 More Thing takeover in the huge Hex arena at Balter Festival. Two weeks later I introduced them to some of the highest peaks of the Brecon Beacons. By September they will have seen many more of the UK’s most dramatic and gorgeous mountains as we get into shape for one of the most brutal challenges Bunter has ever signed up to. Here’s where we are at right now…
