Hyperpop duo 100 gecs have finally unleashed their remix of Basement Jaxx‘s classic Where’s Your Head At?
Released today, November 14, on semimal UK alternative imprint XL Recordings (the label responsible for acts as a far-flung as The Prodigy and Radiohead) 100 gecs‘ remix drops almost exactly 22 years after the original was first released by the UK heritage headliners. Released under its own title where’s my head at_, the remix was first aired on the experimental duo’s Boiler Room set back in March 2023.
If you’ve not watched it yet, it’s highly recommended. Regardless of your musical persies, we guarantee there’ll be something in this mix for you. It’s every bit as choatic, unpredictable and joyous as their own music but with added heavyweight D&B, classic dubstep and twisted rave anthems. It all kicks off with where’s my head at_
Two and a half minutes of pressurised head-checking fun, the remix pitches up the iconic vocal and sends the original elements of the track into distorted hard dance oblivion. It instantly caused viral heat when the Boiler Room set went live just weeks after the duo’s second album 10,000 gecs dropped. It is now finally available digitally and on limited vinyl.
