FABRICLIVE launches new label

London club institution launch new music series, kicking off with Sully

Whisper the conjugated noun FABRICLIVE into the ear of any low-end appciating head who was collecting music between the years 2001- 2018 and they’re likely to melt into a puddle of goosebumps and start spluttering how life changing mixes by the likes of Fabio, DJ Hype, Andy C, Kahn & Neek, Dub Phizix, Daniel Avery, dBridge & Instra:mental were (to name but a few).

Well now they, and everyone else who has ears, can melt once again as the London club institution fabric has announced the return of the label arm of their regular Friday night line-ups. It starts with a ridiculous duo of tunes from a contemporary craftsman whose tunes are on the USBs and playlists of every discerning jungle appreciator in the multiverse… Sully.

The full single, entitled Model Collapse, drops March 14. The title track landed last week. An unapologetic fractured frenzy, it goes like this…

Model Collapse is backed by the similarly addictive deconstructed slab of badness The Wash, the release will be available on an eye-catching hand-etched picture disc and dressed in the unique artwork of rated digital media artist John Karborn (check his previous and intriguing concepts here).

“He’s a dynamo of ideas and I’m never quite sure where they’ll lead, which is 99% of the fun with this stuff,” Sully explains in the promo blurb about this new release. “Conversely, FABRICLIVE is a new partnership for me but it’s clear we are on the same page in terms of trying something a bit different and being a bit ambitious with the presentation.”

They’re on the same page musically, too…

“We’ve been huge fans of Sully for what seems like 10++ years now,” states Rob Booth, A&R at FABRICLIVE and fabric Originals and Houndstooth. “His DJ sets are always a highlight when playing here at the club and he’s pretty much nailed the art of jungle production. We nabbed Sully for a remix for Special Request on our sister label Houndstooth back in 2019, the 12″ sold out that day — Swandive on Fracture‘s Astrophonica label has gone down in history — We don’t think there could be a better person to ask than Sully to inaugurate the brand new FABRICLIVE label with original music!”

What an inauguration. We have it on good authority that plenty more is set to follow. If you’re a new gen raver and the FABRICLIVE mix CD series was before your time, they’re well worth checking out and digging into. The series was a ‘buy-on-sight’ for most of its duration and was so consistent it even run during the club’s closure and successful battle with the council to re-open. As much of an institution as the regular Friday party itself, the series stopped in 2018 at mix 100 (Kode9 & Burial). Prior to that it literally covered the broadest spectrum of bass/non-4×4 styles you can imagine.

If you’re a little older and did cop some of these hard copies, you’ll know why we’re excited about this new label development. To use the professional terminology, FABRICLIVE dispatches were the absolute business m8. We look forward to melting into lots of goosebumpy puddles in the future.

In the meantime keep your peepers peeled for Sully – Model Collapse on March 14.
