Time flies when you’re documenting beats and celebrating art!
Next month – June 26 to be precise – will mark exactly a year since we launched this site so we wanted to celebrate with a few cheeky get-togethers to show appreciation for this culture and show love for everyone who’s supported us so far.
June 17 – 18 we are on the road in London and Braintree with a whole gang of incredible DJs for two free events and we’d love for you to join us.
Saturday June 17 sees us hitting Planet Wax in London for a night of cross-genre fury and fusion. Kicking off at 7pm, and hosted by Agman Gora, DJs include Plasmator, Ghost Hardware, Baronna, Lakeway, Scartip, LSN and the one and only Trex!
Planet Wax is a warm, welcoming and inclusive musical one-stop-shop for the most dedicated of heads and collectors. A record store where you can cut a dub, have a drink, chill with friends and enjoy a knees up in the evening, we took a visit down there last month to hear founders Dexta and Sicknote‘s inspiring story.
June 18, meanwhile, sees us heading east to Braintree Essex for a day of new generation and upfront drum & bass at another inspiring venue that is committed to the culture: Rough Tempo.
Rolling from 12pm – 9pm in the venue’s Attic space, DJs on board for this leg of the anniversary action are Anna Key, DJ Zent, E-Lisa, Guzi, R3IDY, Shayper, Simulate, Stonx, Trauma DBC & Juiceman and Zoner.
A heavyweight tear-up at one of the most iconic stations in underground bass culture, the amount of artists who cut their teeth, made their debut and broke through into the game at Rough Tempo is endless. We’re honoured to be part of that journey with them.
The whole day will be streamed online and is also open to guests via private invite. If the weather stays as beautiful as it is right now, we’ll be having a BBQ too. Everyone is welcome, entry is free, but numbers are limited so please email email@example.com for tickets.
It’s an exciting time for 1 More Thing as we look forward to our second year. Future plans include more content, more events, more collaborations, more projects, more releases and an expansion of the team. These parties are a way of looking back over the last year and its many highs and lows and embracing everything we’ve achieved so far.
Launching an underground music platform during one of the hardest economic eras that our generations have ever known has been more challenging than we could ever imagine. Especially at a time when music and art seem to be devalued and exploited more than ever. But, coming off the back of an absolutely incredible Balter Festival takeover this weekend, and speaking daily to so many inspiring artist friends in our scene, it makes us even more resolute than ever to make this platform a success, push real art and bass culture and give it the space, the spotlight and the value it deserves.
Both events will be filmed and documented with interviews and footage and the mixes will be archived online. We’d like to thank every single person who’s supported us in every single way so far and every artist who’s given us space and faith to cover them and tell their story.
One year deep, we’re still only warming up. With these parties we now plan on levelling up: If you’re free and in the area please join us!
