It’s happening Saturday June 14 in the 2Funky complex, Leicester UK, and it’s already sounding XXXL.
Acts confirmed so far include the mighty John B (lead picture), Dutch titans Flint & Figure, our good friend Diligent Fingers, new neuro don Stonx, Interstellar Audio founder Cellar, Skybass founder Polymathic and United By Breakbeat’s main man Guddah…
“I can’t wait to see everyone,” grins Guddah. A name who will be familiar with any of you who’ve taken part in our own Demo Drop streams, this bearded fellow is an inspiring man. We’ve covered his story in great detail in this YouTube interview where he explains how he quit his 9-5 to be a full time Twitch DJ.
A highly enthusiastic Twitch ambassador who’s inspired by the platform’s positive community culture, he heads up United By Breakbeat – a collective of like minded DJs, labels and channels on Twitch who are all dedicated to bass music, predominantly drum & bass and jungle.
“The reason I’m putting this event on is because we’ve got around 385 members and a lot of these people I’ve never met or had the chance to meet yet they’ve become incredibly close friends, some of whom I talk to every day!” exclaims Guddah. “So I wanted to create a situation where we can meet in real life and really celebrate what we have and finally meet up properly.”
It’s happening on his manor, too. While Leicester isn’t steeped in D&B history, the Midlands had a fierce reputation on the rave circuit throughout the 90s and it is home to OG pioneer DJ SS. In fact his Formation Festivals are held at the same venue this community day will be held at.
“It’s a really cool venue that’s perfect for what we need,” Guddah explains. “We’ve got five music stages which are all a different vibe of D&B and this is ideal for what we need. We’ve got some incredible people coming over from America, many from Europe, even a DJ from New Zealand so we want to have enough space for everyone to play and not be squeezed into an overly packed schedule.”
Another aspect of the schedule will be taken care of by 1 More Thing, too. Alongside other hosts Skybass, Spynal, Interstellar Audio, Stonx and United By Breakbeat, our crew will also be hosting a room within the complex.
Expect live interviews with many of the artists as we celebrate the day, share vibes, tell stories, play a few sets and maybe even one or two cheeky B2Bs.
If you tuned into our Sun & Bass streams last year it will be a very similar vibe but with more of us interviewing and hosting.
Like Guddah himself, we can’t wait. Whether you can make it to the Midlands to be there in person or stay in and stream the whole event from home, we can’t wait to see you and we’re really proud to be invited to take part in such an exciting and inclusive project.
