A new event is set to make its London debut next month on Friday November 7. It takes place in Four Quarters, Peckham, the line-up is steeped in sickness from the legendary pioneer DJ Flight to new generation jungle Queen VXRGO and with them comes an inspiring message as all proceeds from the event will go to global charity Women For Women International.
All aboard the Vybe Voyage!
Following two successful events in their hometown Brighton, the female-led initiative is run by longstanding drum & bass promoter Essence Of Chi and rising Brighton artist Jay-Mo. The line-up they’ve curated says it all.
The one and only DJ Flight will be exploring the foundation acid house sound that triggered the whole rave movement almost 40 years ago.
Alongside Flight is a vast range of new, emergent and rising acts including VXRGO, plus resident Dozer, co-promoter Jay-Mo and many others including Audio Dune, Gui & Takeda, Steady and Inky with hosts Bassline, Mynx and Xaler.
Covering all bass-adjacent genres, in one of the coolest venues South London has to offer (it’s literally underneath a games arcade!), Vybe Voyage ticks all the best boxes. But most importantly, funds are being raised for a vital movement in the world: Women For Women International, a vital organisation that supports women survivors of war and conflict, helping them rebuild their lives through education, community and empowerment.
“We were tired of feeling helpless watching the headlines,” say founders Jay-Mo and Keira EOC. “Vybe Voyage is about unity and energy, and we wanted to channel that spirit into something that could actually make even a small difference for women everywhere.”
Women For Women International was established in 1993 as a reaction to the attrocities happening in Bosnia at the time. Describing their mission as a sisterhood, rather than a charity, they have since changed the lives of over 600,000 women and children in 17 conflict-affected countries. With conflicts and genocides continuing to devastate communities across Gaza, Ukraine, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the need for a movement such as Women For Women International has sadly never been realer or stronger and every penny raised by Vybe Voyage will be going towards genuine positive change in the world. Something we need to see a lot more of.
A truly essential cause much bigger than any of us here in the UK can truly imagine, and a thoughtful, progressive line-up that breaks down barriers rather than reinforces them. If there are two main things that are keep us excited about real dance music culture right now during these strange times, it’s definitely this: exciting genre cross pollination and community doing bits to help others, rather than just helping themselves.
If you’re in London on November 7 and you’re able to support please do, you’re guaranteed a serious musical trip and you’ll be part of something genuinely meaningful. Full details, ticket information and more can be found here.
We wish Vybe Voyage lots of luck and will sign out with a message of love from one of their headliners, VXRGO, who we had on our own line-up just a few months back at Big Love.
Peace, love and unity!
